Choose a highball glass for serving. Fill it with ice cubes to chill the glass while you prepare the drink.
Using a jigger or a shot glass, measure out 2 ounces (or 60 ml) of tequila.
After measuring the tequila, pour 4 ounces (or 120 ml) of orange juice into the glass. You can use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor, but store-bought orange juice works fine too.
Use a stirrer or a cocktail shaker to gently mix the tequila and orange juice together. Alternatively, you can just give the glass a gentle swirl to combine the ingredients.
Once the tequila and orange juice are mixed, slowly pour in 1/2 ounce (or 15 ml) of grenadine. Pour it over the back of a spoon to help it sink to the bottom of the glass, creating the sunrise effect.
Allow the grenadine to settle at the bottom of the glass, creating the layered effect. It should sink and create a gradient of colors, with the bottom being a deep red and the top a vibrant orange.
If desired, garnish the drink with an orange slice and/or a cherry. This step adds a decorative touch to the cocktail.
Your Tequila Sunrise is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve it immediately while it's still cold, and sip slowly to savor the flavors.
